Briefly describe your best win at Wheelersburg |
|
Our best win was undoubtedly defeating Portsmouth in 1976,
my Senior year. We were playing as one the entire night. I
was privileged to catch a touchdown pass of 49 yards in my
final game in the Orange and Black.

Briefly describe your toughest loss at Wheelersburg |
|
Having only lost one game in my 3 years at the varsity
level, the 1975 loss to Portsmouth was indeed tough. I broke
my ankle early in the 3rd quarter and was not able to
complete the game.

Describe the most memorable event while playing at
Wheelersburg |
|
I would have to recount 2 memorable moments. In our 1976
game against undefeated Notre Dame I was able to catch my
good friend, David Byrd, on a cross-field block on a punt
return that landed him under the bench. During the
Portsmouth game in 1976 I caught my last touchdown as a
Pirate. I had planned on doing a flip in the end zone after
the catch. I lost my nerve and instead began approaching the
bench. As I neared the sideline I thought, what the heck,
and did it anyway. Wendell MacBrayer had been coming over to
give me five and I landed on my butt right at his feet. The
look on Mac's face alone was worth more than the touchdown.
